Business Development

Business Development is a main pillar each company is built upon. SME`s often have no structured business development activities and rely on existing customer relations and sales activities. Larger companies have own business development departments which are primarily focusing on alliances and deal driven partnerships.

Outperforming companies which can achieve high growth rates and profitability figures follow a different approach. Their business development activities are executing an interdisciplinary approach. Strongly connected and acting with the management, sales and marketing team business development strategies are developed: starting with a SWOT analysis, own strength and weaknesses are investigated in interdisciplinary groups, as strength and weaknesses of the main competitors. In a second step a market analysis of suppliers, sales agents and customers is conducted. Furthermore tax, legal and further experts are involved to understand the whole environment a company is acting in. This SWOT analysis must be conducted regularly.  Based on the SWOT results new growth and business plans are being developed and executed. Actions cover a variety of team setup and qualification, marketing plans, selecting and removing distribution channels, partnership strategies, financial and budget planning. In the end all activities will generate unique selling propositions (USPs) which are the long-term basis of profitable growth in old as new markets.
